2021 Fantasy Football Bust - RB Myles Gaskin

2021 Fantasy Football Bust – RB Myles Gaskin

The Miami Dolphins RB Myles Gaskin burst on the scene in 2020 and led the Miami Dolphins in rushing yards (584); 2nd in rushing TD (3) to Jordan Howard; he also had 41 receptions and 388 yards and 2 TDs. All of this was completed in 7 games as the starter. He finished as RB28 with 162 Fantasy Points and 16.4 points per game. This was clearly a RB3 but he is being drafted right now as RB2, RB23 and 48th overall, a 4th round pick. It doesn’t hurt his stock that the Dolphins didn’t really address RB only drafting RB Gerrid Doaks from the University of Cincinnati in the 7th round.

After all that, why am I labeling him as a bust? I’ll tell you. They have 6 RBs on the roster, of course Gaskin is the lead back, but they brought in Malcom Brown from Los Angeles and last season it looked like Salvon Ahmed was going to be special. I also expect and have heard rumors that the Dolphins are looking for RBs to add as depth pieces when players get cut from other teams. The Dolphins tried to get Kerryon Johnson off waivers from Detroit but was beat out by Philadelphia.

Myles Gaskin has missed three games with a sprained MCL and with COVID Procedures. He is only 5’10” and 205 lbs. At the end of the day, has Gaskin done enough to separate himself from Ahmed, Brown and whoever else ends up on this roster. With 4.0 yards per carry over two years, I don’t think he has done enough. My biggest conern and what I think makes him at bust as an RB2, is I don’t think the Dolphins commit to him, I think they bring in another back (Le’Veon Bell, Duke Johnson, or someone who is cut) and make this team a full RBBC.
