2021 NFL Draft Prospect
With the 2021 Tight End class being one of the strongest in recent memory if your team is in need of a Tight End but has more pressing draft needs don’t worry this year their is a few good options later on . One name that comes to mind for me is Hunter Long ( Boston college)
Hunter Long , 6 ft 5 in 253 Lbs Wingspan 83” Arm 33 3/4” and Hand 9 3/4” won’t waste any ones time on checking him off on the “size” box!
Long will finish his career stats at Boston College with 89 receptions 1297 yards and 9 touchdowns. In 2020 he became the first Boston College Tight End to earn all American Honors since Pete Mitchell.
Long will not be a day 1 pick , he isn’t a mustang like Kyle Pitts, he isn’t a elite run after catch threat like Brevin Jordan. Of the top 3 tight ends in this draft Long is most compared to Pat Freiermuth , but his frame is a bit lighter and Pat Freiermuth is more athletic and established. Their is a decent gap between the Tight Ends and Long but Long is on the top of the second tier of Tight Ends and will go Late in the second round or early in the 3rd and fits the Big tough Tight End NFL mold.
Longs strengths are solid blocking and uses his size to box out defenders and uses his catch radius to latch on to high passes. He is smooth at the catch point and with soft hands and good body control can win with his physicality. He navigates the seem well and can convert when needed!
