2021 NFL Free Agnets - Defense

Top 10 2021 Defensive Free Agents:

1. Justin Simmons, S resigns with the Denver Broncos on a 5 yr, $62.5 million contract. Denver should resign one of the best safeties in the league, who totaled 96 tackles and 5 INT’s this past year. This allowed him to finish top 10 in fantasy points for safety, and he should continue to produce.

2. Shaquil Barrett, LB signs with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a 4 yr, $68 million contract. Barrett has stated he is ready to get paid, so what better team to pay for one of the best edge rushers in the league than the Jags who have close to $80 million in cap space.

3. Yannick Ngakoue, DL signs with the Miami Dolphins on a 4 yr, $ 80 million contract. Ngakoue had an interesting 2020 season after being traded to the Vikings and then to the Ravens. Browns missed out on the JJ Watt sweepstakes, and Ngakoue is a great consolation prize.

4. Lavonte David, LB resigns with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a 3 yr, $40 million contract. The reigning super-bowl champs should resign David, one of the leagues premier linebackers. The Bucs have salary decisions to make, but David should definitely be back a leader for the defense.

5. Leonard Williams, DL resigns with the New York Giants on a 4 yr, $80 million contract. Williams has played well in New York, and the Giants have enough cap space to resign him. Him staying makes the most sense for both Williams and the Giants.

6. Anthony Harris, S signs with the Cleveland Browns on a 4 yr, $56 million contract. The Vikings don’t have the cap space to re-sign Harris, and the Browns need to upgrade big time at safety. They also have the salary cap to do so.

7. Matt Milano, LB signs with the Los Angeles Rams on a 4 yr, $45 million contract. It has already been reported that the Bills and Milano are parting ways this offseason. The Rams need help at LB and Milano is a solid piece to help out Sean McVay’s defense.

8. Marcus Maye, S resigns with the New York Jets on a 4 yr, $60 million contract. Maye is one of the few bright spots on this Jets team, and he proved his worth this past season with 88 tackles, 2 INT’s and 2 sacks. Look for him to improve these numbers heading into next year.

9. Bud Depree, LB signs with the Philadelphia Eagles on a 1 yr, $10 million contract. Depree is coming off of an ACL injury and will get a year to prove he’s back in full form. Eagles are also desperate to upgrade their defense.

10. Keanu Neal, S signs with the Houston Texans on a 2 yr, $11 million contract. Pairing Neal with Eric Reid in Houston would create a very solid safety tandem. Injuries derailed his 2018 and 2019 season, but came back last year to finish with 100 tackles, 1 INT, and 1 sack.
