Castle Black's Waiver Wire

Been crushed by injuries the first 2 weeks? I brought this up in my pre week 1 article that injuries are going to be heavier than usual this season. I certainly did not think it was going to be this brutal. We have a continuously updated injury post flagged at the top of our page so I won’t sit here and list every injury and the severity/length of them. It was a bloodbath out there week 2 so odds are you need some or a ton of help from the wire. I am going to give you a bunch of names, mostly at WR and RB that you can and should add. If you are not streaming QB or TE I firmly believe that your entire bench should be RB and WR. Give yourself as many options as possible to fill those skill and flex spots. Make some trade offers to teams that were hit the hardest by injury. If you ended up with an abundance of RB or WR via good drafting and waiver moves, throw some offers out there. Pro tip: The Barkley and CMC owners will probably pay top dollar for some RB help. The worst that happens from a trade proposal is a rejection. Stir up your league with some offers.

I will put all of these players into a list at the end but I wanted to bring up a few things about them and why I like or dislike them as adds. The obvious ones are who steps in for Barkley and CMC. Barkley is officially done for the year and McCaffrey is listed as out for 4-6 weeks. Devonta Freeman is visiting the Giants today but he apparently wants more money than teams are offering. If he signs he is certainly worth an add but we have no idea what kind of shape he is in or if the Giants would give him a heavy workload with zero knowledge of the playbook or chemistry with his new teammates. If the G-men decide to go with what they have it will be the Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman show. Neither is going to win you your league but both have shown the ability to be fantasy starters. Mike Davis is the clear add to cover CMC. He would be my top RB add for this week. Davis was solid in relief and should see almost all the work until CMC is back on the field. The Rams and 49er backfields are both shook up. The injuries there do not look to be major but Darrell Henderson should be a top add. It looks like San Fran is finally going to get something for the $ they spent on Jerrick McKinnon. Jeff Wilson could potentially get some work as well.

The WR position was not hit as hard week 2 but Cortland Sutton was lost for the season. Davante Adams left the game in the 2nd quarter but was said to be able to continue playing if the Packers were not winning by a large margin. Keep an eye on the Wednesday practice reports. Marquez Valdes-Scantling gets a big bump if Adams is out for any games. Rookie 2nd round pick for the Broncos KJ Hamler is a good add. He will be on the field for most plays with Sutton out and he is one of the fastest players coming into the league this season. Denver will give him carries to try and get the ball in his hands. Robby Anderson Mike Williams and Jalen Reagor shouldn’t be on waivers but check for them just in case. Here are my targets by position for week 2. Good luck out there and ice up before week 3.
