CastleBlacks Waiver Wire
Happy Tuesday FantasyHolics, I hope you didn’t have to play against Davante Adams or Tyler Lockett this Sunday, but if you did you have my condolences. I was against Adams and almost won. If only Kenyan Drake could have had even an average game I would have won but alas Drake is clearly below average. Enough of my sob stories, welcome back to the waiver wire.
4 more teams with plenty of big time fantasy assets on bye this week. Washington Arizona Jacksonville and Houston on all chilling on their couches this week so let's look for some potential fill ins.
I am writing this article around 1:30 EST on Tuesday and we do not have definitive word on Chris Carson or Devonta Freeman. Freeman was seen working alone on a side field this morning at Giants practice. Carson “hopes” to miss minimum time but is certainly in doubt for at least this week’s game. If either RB misses week 8, Carlos Hyde and Wayne Gallman are decent plays. Sadly we will not know too much before waivers run but I would look to add them especially if you have been relying on Carson or Freeman.
The 49ers backfield as always is producing big time fantasy production, and as always it is a dart throw at figuring out who to play. Jeff Wilson went absolutely hamburger on Sunday but now he is hurt. Mckinnon is being “rested” but who knows how long that lasts. Hasty has looked real solid in limited work the past few games and Tevin Coleman could be back off IR as soon as this week. Coleman and Hasty are definitely potential pickups but good luck with the Shanahan shenanigans.
Sterling Shepard is my top WR add this week and could be one of the better long term grabs of the year if he can stay on the field. Shepard has gotten at least 6 targets in 18 straight games minus the game that he got knocked out of early vs. Chicago. That is a pretty fantastic target floor that you just don’t find on the wire mid-season. Greg Ward seems to have locked up the slot role in Philly and Jalen Reagor is an interesting name once he is off IR. Nelson Agholor is clearly a favorite target of Derek Carr and warrants flex consideration. Rashard Higgins steps into the WR2 role for the Browns with Beckham going down. He can certainly be rostered but Mayfield does not throw enough passes per game for me to be excited about his potential. Russell Gage continues to be a PPR flex option as long as Julio Jones is on the field with him.
Trey Burton is my top TE pickup this week. He was getting very involved the last 2 games before his bye and Rivers loves his TE. Richard Rodgers is a low end TE 1 while Ertz and Goedert are on IR which could be until week 10. Austin Hooper has an injury and his bye to deal with but he is a nice stash for the playoff push if available. Harrison Bryant is a decent play until Hooper returns. Mike Gesicki was dropped in plenty of leagues after dropping a zero burger the week before his bye. With Tua taking over he could potentially lean on his TE as a security blanket but we have to wait and see. He is worth a stash if you have the space. Irv Smith is running more routes and Gerald Everett is emerging as the TE to roster for the Rams.
Albert Okwuegbunam caught 7 passes even with Noah Fant on the field vs Kansas City and is my deep stash of the week.
Here are my week 8 wire targets:
Sterling Shepard (Add of the Week)
Good luck this week FantasyHolics
