Week 4 is already among us! It’s time to take a look at this week's players/games to target on DraftKings, but first, let’s take a rewind to see how things went last week.
This season has gotten off to a bumpy start. A lot of my lineups have not cashed, and it can mainly be tied to players in a smash spot laying an egg. Miles Sanders was going up against a Bengals defense that got gashed by the Browns, but he failed to get anything going. Joshua Kelly was a dud against an abysmal Carolina defense. CeeDee Lamb was not the value the consensus thought he would be, and the Steelers defense did not put as much pressure on Watson, nor create the turnovers that I was hoping for. All these bust ended up being lineup killers. This week, I’m going to go about things a little differently. Last season, you almost had to jam CMC into your lineups and build from there. Due to so many “jam them in your lineup and forget about it” players being injured this season, you have to get the jam in player right, it’s not a given like it was with CMC. Players I feel comfortable doing this with are Zeke, Deandre Hopkins, and Dalvin Cook, other than that, the risk is a little too high for me.
Russel Wilson has been the MVP so far this season, and now he gets to go up against one of the worst teams in the league. He has yet to score under 30 points this season, and I don’t think he stops here. Pairing him with D.K. Metcalf of Tyler Lockett sure looks good on paper.
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense should put plenty of points up against the Browns, pressing the Browns to crank it up and throw more. Depending on game flow, this could finally be the game that Odell Beckham Jr goes off. This could also be a game where the Browns continue to feed Chubb and he has 200 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. I’m not going to tell you how this game will go, but if I had to guess, I think it turns into a shootout. Pairing Dak with Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, or CeeDee Lamb would work, and bring it back with OBJ.
The Texans offense has looked awful so far this year, which can’t be much of a surprise given the fact that they lost the best receiver in the league. This game seems like a get right spot for Watson and the rest of the offense. Will Fuller could have one of his monster games, but keep in mind he has been dealing with a hamstring issue. Brandon Cooks on the other hand is only 4500 dollars, and could easily deliver back value. You’re looking for 3 times what the player cost in fantasy points. This is absolutely a game where Cooks can score you over 13.5 points. I want a piece of the Vikings offense as well. Dalvin Cook had a big game against the Titans last week, and the Texans defense let James Connor have a pretty good game last week. Cook could really get after it this week, and I expect him to.
To fill out the rest of my roster, I need to go cheap in some spots to get the other players I need. I mentioned Cooks being a good value already. Hunter Renfrow also presents a good value. The Raiders wide receivers are banged up, and the ball has to go somewhere. Darren Waller and Renfrow are really the only 2 proven targets. They also have the fact that the Bills defense hasn’t been what I believe a lot of people thought it would be to start off the season. The dolphins put up 28 points against them. Mo Alie-Cox is in a decent spot, and Phillip Rivers loves to throw to the tight end. I’m ok with getting a 10 point game here given his price. Taking some of these low cost guys should allow you to price out the rest of your roster with mid-cost players.
My optimal lineup this week looks like this. Russel Wilson taking on the dolphins. As I mentioned before, Wilson’s on fire and shouldn’t slow down here. Darrel Henderson Jr going against the Giants. Henderson has looked pretty good this season, and the Giants have no difference makers on defense. James Robinson going at the Bengals. Robinson has been the surprise of the season, and he’s in a smash spot here. Brandin Cooks going against the Vikings, gotta take the value here. Tee Higgins going against the Jaguars. Again, gotta take the value. D.K. Metcalf, going against a bad Miami team, love the spot for him here. Darren Waller taking on the Bills, should be fed with targets. Kenyan Drake going against the
Panthers, another smash spot, should receive a bunch of carries. Finishing things off, I have the chargers defense going against a depleted Tampa Bay offense.
