FantasyHolics Week 9 Start/Sit
Week 9 Start/Sit - #PrimeTime Royalty
Start: Deshaun Watson (HOU) @ Jacksonville Jaguars – Things didn’t get off to a great start for Watson and the Texans this year, but they also played the toughest opening schedule you could imagine, facing the Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers. Watson has turned it on as of late, averaging 27 fantasy points per game over his last 3 outings. This week he faces a Jacksonville team that he just TORCHED a few weeks ago, for 359 passing yds, 2 TD, 25 rushing yards. Watson also threw 2 INT in the game. If he cleans up the turnovers, Watson is in for a MONSTER day.
Sit: Ryan Tannehill (TEN) vs. Chicago Bears – Tannehill has played well, and has had a couple of HUGE performances this season, but has cooled off as of late. This trend may continue into the near future, as the Titans have a very tough mid-season schedule. This week, they play the Bears, who may not have it together on offense, but certainly have a good defense. In the upcoming weeks, the Titans face the Ravens followed by 2 games with a very good Colts team. If possible, Id wait until this stretch is over before starting Tannehill.
Start: James Conner (PIT) @ Dallas Cowboys – Over the last 3 games, “The Terminator “has seen an average of 18 total touches per game and scored an average of 16 points per game. He is the bell cow right now. This week Conner faces a Cowboys team who give up 196 rushing yards per game, LAST in the NFL. Conner should run wild.
Start: David Johnson (HOU) @ Jacksonville Jaguars – David Johnson is putting in WORK. Over his last 5 games, Johnson has averaged 20 total touches per game. On top of being targeted frequently, the Texans play the Jags this week, who give up an average of 142 yds per game on the ground. DJ should treat fantasy owners to a BIG day here.
Sit: Ezekiel Elliott (DAL) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Dallas Cowboys are an absolute MESS this season, and because of it, Elliott has suffered immensely. Zeke has yet to have a 100 yd game this season, and has only averaged 7 fantasy points per game over his last 2 outings. On top of all this, he is questionable for the week with a hamstring injury, and his team is facing one of the best run defenses in the league, the Steelers. Even, if Zeke does make it onto the field this week, I suggest sitting him.
Sit: JK Dobbins (BAL) @ Indianapolis Colts – Dobbins is coming off a big performance vs the Steelers, and should even see most of the work out of the backfield this week, with Ingram out due to injury. But the Ravens face an even better defense this week. The Colts are 2nd in the league in rush defense, only giving up 79.9 yards per game this season. I don’t trust Dobbins to overcome that just yet, I wouldn’t use him as any more than a FLEX play, and only if there weren’t any better options available.
Start: DK Metcalf / Tyler Lockett (SEA) @Buffalo Bills – These guys have been having MONSTER games all season. The Bills haven’t been getting great line play from the Defensive front lately, needing to create pressure from elsewhere. This should lead to a big game from one of these two, probably whoever isn’t being covered by Tre’Davious White.
Start: Terry McLaurin (WAS) vs. New York Giants – “Scary Terry” McLaurin has seen an average of 11 targets per game over his last 4 games, and scored an average of 18 fantasy points per game over his last 2 outings. McLaurin is CLEARLY the favorite option downfield in Washington. Start him with confidence.
Sit: Amari Cooper (DAL) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – Poor Amari. The guy has been having a great season, despite the injury bug hitting EVERYONE around him. Last week was his worst week of the season, and I feel it won’t get much better. The Cowboys have to choose from Ben DiNucci, Garrett Gilbert, or Cooper Rush, to trot out there and face the Pittsburgh Steelers defense. OOF. Probably, best to wait until after the bye week before starting Amari Cooper again.
Sit: Marvin Jones Jr. (DET) @ Minnesota Vikings – Jones Jr. is coming off a 2 TD game, on minimal targets. In fact, he has been used SPARINGLY all season long. He is averaging 3 Receptions per game and 37 Receiving yards per game, FOR THE YEAR!! I don’t trust him, AT ALL!
Start: TJ Hockenson (DET) @ Minnesota Vikings – Hockenson has become a STUD at the TE position of late. He has averaged 8 targets and 15 fantasy points per game the past 2 weeks, and that trend looks to continue, as the Lions will be without Kenny Golladay again this week.
Sit: Hunter Henry (LAC) vs. Las Vegas Raiders – Hunter Henry is a BEAST of a TE when healthy. However, since Justin Herbert took over, the chemistry isn’t quite there, YET. Henry has averaged 6 points per game over the last 2 weeks. Although not a terrible option, there are better plays this week.
