Monday Night Reaction – Week 8 #PrimeTime Royalty
The Primetime game of week 8 featured 2 NFC teams on opposite ends of the spectrum. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) looked to continue their recent hot streak on the road, against a New York Giants (1-6) team, looking to change their recent misfortunes and possibly put themselves in contention for the division title in the circus that is the NFC East. The Bucs came into the game a heavy favorite, despite key injuries, but the Giants held their own, giving fans a game that came down to the final minute.
The Giants took the lead early, and held the Bucs to field goals, until late in the 3rd quarter, when Tom Brady showed once again, why he is the GOAT. Leading his team on two late drives, resulting in touchdowns, the Bucs held off the Giants 25-23.
Mike Evans (TB) – 5 Receptions, 55 yards, 1 TD. The streaky Evans finally found the endzone again, giving Fantasy owners a decent total for the week.
Sterling Shepard (NYG) - 8 Receptions, 74 yards. With 10 targets in the game, Shepard is quickly becoming Daniel Jones favorite target, as he was looked to early and often. The WR is averaging 7 Receptions and 9 targets per game since returning from injury. He is a solid weekly WR 2 / FLEX play option.
Ryan Succop (TB) – 4 FG (37,40, 43, 38) Succop played a HUGE role in the Bucs win, and most likely your fantasy team, if you started him.
Rob Gronkowski (TB) – 4 Receptions, 41 yards, TD. Over the past 3 weeks, Gronk has been a GREAT fantasy play, averaging 6 Receptions, 60 yards and a TD. He is quickly becoming a candidate for late round gem of the year.
Evan Engram (NYG) – 5 Receptions, 61 yards. Engram put up decent numbers this week, despite not finding the endzone. Seeing 19 targets over the past 2 games, Engram is definitely getting chances to make plays. That’s all you can ask for from the TE position.
Tom Brady (TB) – 28- 40, 279 yards, 2 TD. Solid numbers, however many owners expected him to have a much bigger day against the lowly Giants.
Darius Slayton (NYG) – 5 receptions, 56 yards. Decent numbers, but could have been SO much more.. seeing 9 targets in this game and only being able to haul in 5
Golden Tate – 2 Receptions, 31 yards, TD. If not for the TD, Tate would have been Irrelevant. At this point, Slayton and Engram should be the only Giants to be started on your rosters.
