NFC East NFL Draft Analysis and Draft Grades

CastleBlack’s 2021 NFC East Draft Report

Welcome in my FantasyHolics, I just wanted to give a quick breakdown of the fantasy impact for the division here. I will only bring up the top picks and players that have any bearing on fantasy football. I apologize in advance for not giving a deep analysis on defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa. Now lets get to it!

Washington Football Team:

Notable Picks

(Overall Pick)

(19) LB Jamin Davis

(51) OT Samuel Cosmi

(82) WR Dyami Brown

Davis adds to an already top tier defense so Washington is not likely to be in many shootouts. Cosmi is a slight bump for the run game and offense in general. Brown is a good player with good size for this years receiver class at 6’1 195. He is squarely behind McLaurin, newly signed Curtis Samuel and Logan Thomas so he is only a dynasty stash for this season. Going in the 3rd round of rookie drafts currently.

NY Giants:

Notable Picks

(20) WR Kadarius Toney

(50) LB Azeez Ojulari

(196) RB Gary Brightwell

Toney finds an odd landing spot given the Giants loaded WR room and the glaring needs at other positions but here we are. Toney is an explosive athlete with game breaker skills. In my opinion he is the second most talented pass catcher there now with Kenny Golladay being the alpha. Slayton Shephard and Engram have shown us what they are so the Giants would be wise to get Toney involved early. Sadly it will likely take an injury to get Toney involved enough for fantasy this year. Redraft he is worth a last round flyer. Dynasty wise I love him as an early to mid second rounder where he is currently going.

Brightwell will only be worth looking at with a training camp injury to Barkley or Booker.

Dallas Cowboys:

Notable Picks

(12) LB Micah Parsons

(44) CB Kelvin Jacobs

(75) DT Osa Odighizuwa

Almost all defense for Jerry Jones and the boys this draft. Parsons was considered by many to be the top defensive player in this draft. The fantasy impact is small but generally negative for the Dallas offensive stars. Last year their defense was awful which lead to constantly having to throw and play catchup. If these picks improve the D, the stats won’t be the same. Potential bump for Elliot if they can be in close games and play a bit of clock control.

Philadelphia Eagles

Notable Picks

(10) WR Devonta Smith

(37) C Landon Dickerson

(150) RB Kenneth Gainwell

Devonta Smith is coming off of one of the most prolific college seasons of all time. The Heisman Trophy winner put up a 117-1856-23 stat line in the strongest conference in all of college football. The knock on Smith is his 166 pound frame. I get it, that is very slim for a pro receiver but guys like Marvin Harrison and Chad Ochocinco came into the league with very similar size and blew up. “The Slim Reaper” is the immediate #1 on his team, has former chemistry with Jalen Hurts and should be an instant impact fantasy player in redraft and dynasty. A borderline WR3 in redraft and should be the 2nd receiver off the board in dynasty rookie drafts. Gainwell is arguably the best pass catching RB in this class and has tons of speed and talent. However his size and 5th round draft capital pencil him in as a complimentary gadget piece for the Birds much more than a handcuff for Miles Sanders. He is worth a late round pick in redraft and due to RB being very shallow this year, he is going in the second round of many rookie drafts which is a bit too pricy for my taste.

Overall Grades:

Washington Football Team- C

New York Giants- C minus

Dallas Cowboys- B plus

Philadelphia Eagles B minus
