Thursday Night Reaction

Thursday Night Reaction

Ok who thought when they seen Jets and Broncos on the schedule for Thursday that they would score more than 30 points total? Yeah me either. Two bad 0-3 teams, someone had to win. That team was Denver. They are the better overall team, they’ve just had a bad run of injuries.

Denver played a good game and QB Brett Rypien antiquated himself well. 19/31 for 242 yards 2TDs and 3 INTs, including a Pick 6. He was running for his life behind a bad offensive line. Rypien did show a connection with Tim Patrick, (6 rec 113 yards 1 TD) I’m sure they had some second string practice time together, but unless Rypien starts another week, Patrick probably won’t be the Top target for this team. They did run the ball well and most the game the defense contained the Jets

New York Jets look like a team with a bunch of problems and no direction. They have no passing game and Sam Darnold was getting chased worse than Rypien. Darnold’s only good connection was with Jamison Crowder (7 rec 104 yards). The running game looks lost, maybe that’s because of the line or maybe that’s because Frank Gore is 37 years old. Either way, this team is bad and going the wrong direction.

Top Fantasy Performers

Melvin Gordon: 23 carries 107 yards 2 TDs. Gordon was paid to be the starter and he’s performed as one. If you took him in the 3rd/4th round I don’t think you can complain about the production. Gordon isn’t flashy but he gets the job done.

Tim Patrick: 7 targets 6 receptions 113 yards 1 TD. Clearly the top target but like I said before, I would hang your hat on this production every week unless Rypien is the starter

Jamison Crowder: 10 targets 7 receptions 104 yards

He’s Darnolds favorite target and now he’s healthy. He will produce even in a bad offense

Jerry Juedy: 4 targets 2 receptions 61 yards 1 TD. Looks like the type of player that’s going to be boom or bust and catch the long pass. Not a WR you can count on week to week.

Not much from this game for fantasy. Both TEs floundered and Noah Fant left with a minor ankle injury.
