Thursday Night Reaction

Thursday Night Reaction Week 5

On paper this looked like a good defensive matchup and it played out that way. The Bucs we're down several players and the Bucs Defense is a Top notch defense this season. Also the Bears are the Bears and Nick Foles is very streaky.

Besides Tom Brady forgetting what down it was at the end of the game. The Bears defense was in his face and they hit him 8 times and sacked him 3 times. They also caused Vaughn to fumble which they recovered and Brady to fumble and 5 tackles for a loss, holding the Bucs to 19 points and 359 yards. Not a good offensive game for the Bucs.

The Bears weren't much better. The Bucs defense hit Foles 7 times and sacked him 3 with 5 tackles for loss. They also picked off Foles once and caused him to fumble. They held the Bears offense to 278 total yards, including only 35 yards rushing. Also not a good offensive game for the Bears

Fantasy Impact

Tom Brady: 25/41 253 yards 1 TD. 17 pts in a 6pt TD League. Still put up respectful numbers. I think you can live with it, just not the numbers you are hoping for.

Ronald Jones: 17 carries for 106 yards; 3 receptions for 19 yards. 3 of the past 5 games he's hit 100 yards and continues to be Bruce Arians ”guy.” We’ll see of that holds up once Fournette is healthy but so far he's proven to be able to get the majority of the carries and a handful of receptions out of the backfield

David Montgomery: 10 carries for 29 yards and 1 TD; 7 receptions 30 yards. The Bears finally scored a rushing TD. As a Montgomery owner you'll take what you can get.

Mike Evans: 9 targets 5 for 41 and a TD. Evans is a red zone machine, especially when Godwin is out. Evans was the clear target favorite.

Allen Robinson: 16 targets 10 receptions 90 yards. Clearly he the Nick Fole favorite

Miller and Miller: Anthony Miller 4 for 28 has really dropped off with Foles at QB. He was supposed to break out. Scott Miller 0 for 0, I told a lot of people to start him. He plays the slot position and Brady likes throwing to the slot. That didn't quite work out.

Rob Gronkowski: 3 receptions for 52 yards is steady production but not what you expected in the offense. Bruce Arians uses Gronk to block

Jimmy Graham: 3 for 33 1 TD looks like the Jimmy Graham of old. Maybe with Foles he will put up the numbers we were expecting from Anthony Milller
